Hello, welcome to Luna.Pixie!
I am Luna Pixie, (its not my real name, and its not really my nickname either... and I am not one of those emo's who change their name either...god I hate those people, but I shall get on to that later!), and this is my bitching website!!**
I must stress that this is just my own personal opinions on stuff... one day could be politics next time it could be about music.. whatever I am getting pre-menstrual about, (that was a joke by the way). I will be allowing people to add comments, but you must understand that these are my views on stuff and I am not asking you to change your views on whatever subject I pick to rant or rave about so do not take what I write as being 'said'
**I may not actually bitch about anything... I may be having a good day ; )
Anyhow, todays subject people is from something I heard on the radio yesterday whilst at work. I was listening to Radio Two and some chappy was on, (I think the show was called drive-time?), and it was about the Volunteer Oscar ceremony that took place on Monday evening.
For those people who have no idea what this is all about: it was an evening dedicated to..wait for it... volunteers and their good work over the past 12 months. Very admirable I thought. Now what followed I think had to be one of the funniest things I had heard on the radio. The host of the radio programme was chatting to some woman who was called Dame Elizabeth, (have to admit I did not catch her surname), and asking her about the evening... and then he started talking to this guy from Liverpool who had won one of the awards. The guy had won an award for coming up with a very good idea to re-cycle bikes and give them to the under priviledged people of the city... again very good idea. When he was asked what other volunteer work he did, this guy also worked within the city's red light district helping out testing prostitutes for std's and pregnancy etc. Again very admirable indeed. And he did all of this whilst working a 60 hour week in his regular job and going out 6 evenings a week to do his volunteer work!
Where is this leading? It was the finishing statement from Dame Elizabeth that made me laugh. Host of the show said "It must be very beneficial for the people that are being helped by these volunteers, but I guess the volunteers get something out of it as well"
to which she replied:
"Oh yes, of course they do. They will probably find that it lowers their blood pressure and lowers their cholesterol level. And in some cases, it even improves their sex lives!"
I'm sorry is that a proven fact??? : ) And when does the guy in Liverpool find the time to have a sex life?? Or could this be part of his charity work as well??
I can see the sales in benecol and the such going right down now... and whatever doctors give you to lower your blood pressure. And the less we say about viagra the better!!
Not really a rant I know, but I thought I would share it with you!
See Ya!!
